Bali touring.

After two days of heavy raining we went on a tour on Bali. First we went to see a waterfall.

Then we went to a place where they make wooden sculptures. Really amazing what they can do with the wood. And they are making them by hand, no machines.

Then it was time for an old temple. Dating back to 900 AD it was really well in shape. Only discovered as late as in the 19th century.

After that we went up to the mountains, to  Penelokan and Kintamani. There is a fantastic view over the volcano Mt. Batur and the lake Batur. Stunning views but too much harassment from people that tries to sell you stuff.

Lunch and the down to a place where they had “poop” coffee. It is an animal that is called  Luwak that eat the coffee beans and then they take care of the beans after the animal has digested it. Not very much to taste but they had other coffee and tea that was really good. This is really a tourist trap since the prices where really high.

After that we went to see the famous rice paddies. Wherever there is a tourist attraction there are also a lot of shops and street vendors. Despite that there was really nice views.

Then we went to Ubud and the monkey-forest in Ubud. What I remember from the monkey-forest was that is was just some monkeys in a temple. Now it was a lot more than that. The monkey forest is quite big and has some things to bee seen.

And Ubud has grown very much on 20 years. I couldn’t see anything that I remembered.

Summary: It was a nice trip to see some of things that are famous in Bali.

Oasis – Koh Chang

When we where in Koh Chang we stayed at Oasis in “Lonely beach”. A really nice, quiet and friendly guest house. It is a dutch couple that owns it. They have run the place since 2011. It is really exciting, inspiring and fun to meet people that changed their living and this is a good example.

Read more about them on

We highly recommend this place if you are going to Koh Chang and Lonely Beach.

Nice bungalows and a really nice restaurant where you can rest after a day on the beach.

They are also on facebook:

Thailand almost done, Bali next

After some lazy weeks at the beaches it is soon time for Bali. The weather has been very good, hot but not to warm. Koh Kood was a very family friendly and relaxing place. Koh Chang is for those that want more people, shopping and party. It is more developed for tourists, but lacks some of the infrastructural things like decent scavenging. Garbage is thrown everywhere.

As for our health and stress level, we have enjoyed a lazy life on the beach. But we start to get restless and need to do things. Since we are used to have a busy life it feels strange that we don’t have things we have or should do. With an old house we always had things that had to be fixed or repaired. Now we don’t have to bother about that any more.

On Wednesday we will leave Thailand for Indonesia and Bali. It will be fun to change environment again. It is rain season in Bali so will have to be prepared for some rain. The temperature will be as high as in Thailand but with some rain. It will be fun to see Bali again since it was 20 years since I last visit the island.

Some pictures from Koh Chang.

When we where in Bangkok we met Apple, a friend of us. It was a long time since we met so it was very fun to spend a day with her. We also had the opportunity to meet her 7 cats. She takes care of deserted cats in Bangkok.

The Beach

After some shopping in Bangkok, we went to Koh Kood for some recreation. After a few hours with a minibus and a boat we arrived at “The Beach Natural Resort”. A really nice place with a wonderful beach and very friendly staff. This is perfect for our tormented bodies and mind. We will stay here for a week and enjoy the good food and have a slow life.

After struggling a little bit with finding our driver and some queues in Bangkok (what a surprise). We finally arrived to “Phranakorn-Nornlen”, a Family friendly vintage guests house in Old Bangkok. You shouldn’t miss this out if you are not a friend of impersonal luxury hotel.

Very nice, friendly and unique. Look at the pictures.

In the air…

Finally, we are on our way now. After the struggle with packing our stuff, and selling our house it felt like a relief. But we are so exhausted that it felt like a hell ride. Not much sleep, stress and the flue is not a good combination. Trust me!
